80. Inflammation can be both Metaphysical and Physical

In the bustling borough of Brooklyn, lies a treasure trove of healing wonders: Donna Troy Cleary’s haven, Spiral Herbal Remedies, offering Organic, plant-based remedies for various health concerns. This week we're going to cover inflammation.

INFLAMMATION is now thought to be the root cause of most problems that arise in the body. While an essential part of the body's immune response, inflammation becomes problematic when it persists. Stress, poor diet, environmental toxins, and lifestyle contribute to inflammation, which can, in turn, lead to health issues.

Inflammation can also describe a state of emotional imbalance which can then lead to physical inflammation. On a metaphysical level, inflammation is often associated with the ego. When the ego is inflamed, we may become defensive and judgmental. We are not in alignment with our highest values and aspirations but are caught in the drama and reactivity of the ego. Cultivating compassion, understanding, and forgiveness for ourselves and others can help us heal.

In addition to the herbs listed below, here are some tips for managing emotional inflammation.

  • Mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment without judgment. Observe our thoughts, feelings, and sensations. This can help us to become more aware of our patterns and identify the things that trigger inflammation.

  • Self-compassion. Self-compassion is the practice of being kind and understanding towards ourselves. This means accepting ourselves for who we are, even when we make mistakes.

  • Forgiveness. Forgiveness is the process of letting go of anger, resentment, and hurt. When we forgive, we release the energy that keeps us inflamed.

  • Connect with the divine. We are capable of connecting with the divine at any time, in any place. Some connect through gratitude practices, some through meditation, others through prayer or spending in the landscape (my preference). Open your mind to the energy around you and allow it to calm and transform.

Spiral Herbal Remedies has a myriad of Herbal solutions for both Physical and Metaphysical Inflammation as well.

  • Some Herbs that will support inflammation include Ginger, Turmeric, Cardamom, Black Pepper, and Green Tea (These are all in our delicious Chai, Chai, Chai Tea.)

Others include Botswelia, Rosemary, and Cinnamon.

CBD is a POWERFUL antiinflammatory and Spiral’s CBD is Organic, Toxin-free, and made by a Former Registered Nurse and Trained Herbalist. which means, that while controlling inflammation, it’s also not causing it.

  • Choose our CBD Oil. Made by a Former Registered Nurse and Trained Herbalist. Our CBD is concentrated so you can take very small doses and it all stays under the tongue. This way, it is all absorbed directly into the blood. Stomach acid can destroy up to 90% of CBD. When you use our CBD, you get the entire dose, can take much smaller doses and it starts to work right away.

  • Our CBD Salve is used on pain and inflammation that can be reached from the outside. CBD binds with receptors in the immune system and receptors on the nervous system, calming them. So it supports both inflammation and pain. These results can occur almost instantly. Sometimes the inflammation interferes with the salve reaching the painful nerve but after a few applications the salve can help decrease the inflammation and the pain can then be managed as well.

  • REISHI BLENDS: Our Reishi blends contain 4 different, locally foraged or grown Medicinal Mushrooms. Every blend is ½ a combo of two Reishis (Ganoderma Lucidum and Ganoderma Tsugae) and ½ is either Chaga, Lion’s Mane, or Turkey Tail. All of these mushrooms contain anti-inflammatories, antihistamines, antioxidants, anticarcinogens, antimicrobials, and more.

  • Reishi Maintain - contains the two Reishis plus Chaga. Chaga has also been used traditionally for gut health and skin cancer.

  • Nerve Blend - contains the Reishis plus Lion’s Mane. Lion’s Mane contains properties that can help with neuroinflammation and help regenerate damaged nerves.

  • Turkey Tail and Reishi - contains the Reishis and Turkey Tail. Turkey tail is used in Europe routinely as an adjunct to Breast Cancer. Some early research on mice also found it helpful against the Herpes virus.
